Initial Lactation Consultations
This is the most comprehensive visit, designed to fully understand your baby's feeding abilities and your feeding experience.
Available: Office • In-Home • Virtual
Get to the Bottom of What's Not Working — Here's How:
We start by listening: your full feeding history and what's been worrying you
A hands on look at your baby's oral function: how they suck, latch, and coordinate feeding
Real-time troubleshooting of latch and positioning, until something works
An actual weigh-in before and after feeding, so we know exactly how much your baby is getting (clinic/in-home only)
A full pump and flange check, so you're not guessing on fit
A bottle-feeding evaluation and plan, if needed
A written care plan you'll have the same day, not just "we'll follow up"
If Any of This Sounds Familiar, We Can Help:
Painful latch
Low milk supply
Tongue-tie concerns
Fussiness at breast
Bottle refusal
Slow or inefficient feeding
This consult accommodates all feeding methods, including breastfeeding, chestfeeding, exclusively pumping, and combo feeding. It is also appropriate for parents navigating latch challenges, painful feeds, suspected oral ties, low or oversupply, bottle refusal, reflux concerns, pumping problems, slow weight gain, or inducing lactation/relactation. Every patient receives a comprehensive clinical assessment and an individualized clinical care plan aligned with their goals.
Not near Bowling Green, or just can't make it in? Virtual visits get you the same clinical assessment and personalized care plan as in-office — everything except an in-person weighed feed, which we'll help you track with your pediatrician if that's a concern.
